KARACHI: Pakistan women's cricket team won the first Twenty20 match of the two-match series against the visiting Bangladesh women's cricket team by 29 runs courtesy Bismah Maroof's all-round award-winning performance.

Pakistan captain Sana Mir won the toss and elected to bat first against Bangladesh as Marina Iqbal and Javeria Khan opened the innings for Pakistan.

Marina departed after scoring just one runs off three balls to give space to Bismah to walk in. She joined hands with Javeria and both took the score to 88 when the latter departed after scoring an important 44 off 43 balls.

Bismah carried on and with partners changing on the other side she kept the scoreboard ticking and went unbeaten at the end of the innings scoring 65 off 57 balls with the help of five boundaries.

Set a target of 125 to chase in 20 overs, Bangladesh never looked comfortable. Wickets kept falling for them at regular intervals and the team could only muster up a score of 95-7 at the end of the 20 overs.

Bismah was given the player of the match award for her one wicket and an unbeaten knock with the bat.

The next Twenty20 match will be played on October 1 at the same venue, the Southend Club Ground, Karachi.

Later, both teams will play two ODIs on October 4 and 6 in Karachi.
