SHABQADAR:

People in Shabqadar held a protest against National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) staff outside their office and blocked Peshawar Road for an hour Monday morning.

The protesters led by local activist Nasrullah Khan chanted slogans against the inefficiency and discriminatory behaviour of NADRA staff and demanded their transfer from Shabqadar.

They said NADRA officials in Shabqadar were accepting bribes from Afghan nationals and issuing them CNICs. However, they were refusing to issue Pakistanis their CNICs on pretexts of load-shedding and generator breakdowns.

“The staff is not friendly with the public; men and women stand in the heat without any shade or cover,” said one protester.

Later Shabqadar tehsil’s Naib Nazim Ghafarullah Sheikh visited the area outside NADRA office and held talks with the demonstrators. He also visited the NADRA office and directed the staff to have a friendlier attitude towards the masses.
