MARDAN: Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan Vice Chancellor Ihsan Ali said on Sunday it was through great efforts that he turned the varsity into one of the country’s top 10 institutions. Ali was arrested by NAB Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for misuse of authority, but was released on interim bail. Talking to journalists at his residence in Mardan, he highlighted his efforts also elevated Hazara University to number seven on the top-10 list. While denying the charges of corruption against him, Ali said every university had an allocated budget and no one took a penny from this amount illegally. He said AWKUM managed to spread to nine affiliated campuses, including Chitral, Buner, Timergara, Charsadda, Swabi, Sharingal, Pabbi and Nowshera, in a short span of time.
