ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said on Thursday it is fully cooperating with the Indian High Commission for return of a deaf-mute Indian girl, Geeta, who accidentally entered Pakistani territory 13 years ago.

"No condition has been set for Geeta to report to the Foreign Ministry for obtaining permission to travel back to India," the Foreign Office said in a statement.

"The Foreign Office is in contact with the Indian High Commission in this regard; however, it is responsibility of the Indian side to prepare Geeta’s travel documents, the statement added," the statement added.

Last week, the Sindh High Court (SHC) asked for comments of the provincial government on a Hindu welfare organisation’s petition seeking Geeta’s custody.

The 22-year-old Geeta alias Guddi accidentally crossed the border into Pakistan 13 years ago and has been stranded here ever since. She has been staying at the Edhi shelter home.
