ANP worker killed, another injured

KARACHI: An activist of the Awami National Party (ANP) was killed while another worker was injured in firing at Surjani Town.

The suspects managed to escape. Tauseef Khan and Mukarram Shah sustained severe injuries in the firing by unidentified suspects. Both were taken to a private hospital in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, where Tauseef succumbed to his injuries. The firing caused panic in the area, after which shops closed down. According to a senior official of the ANP, Qadir Khan, Tauseef was the general secretary of the Gadap Town ANP ward, union council five, while Mukarram is a worker at the same ward. He said that Tauseef and Mukarram were standing in sector 36 D when armed men opened indiscriminate firing on them.

Tauseef was a resident of Tesar Town. He has left behind one child. Man killed in firing Meanwhile, a man, Azhar Waris, sustained bullet injuries in firing near the Maskan roundabout. He was immediately taken to a private hospital, where he died during treatment. SHO Zahid Soomro said that the victim, Azhar, also known as Raju, was a contractor by profession. He was a resident of Bhayani Heights. Police termed the murder a result of a financial conflict. Police handed over Azhar’s body to his family after completing medico-legal formalities.
