PESHAWAR: The political administration has completed drinking water supply schemes in North Waziristan agency to overcome the shortage of drinking water in the troubled area. The schemes would benefit 4,000 people in Ali Khel area of North Waziristan.

A press release issued by the Directorate of Information of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) on Tuesday said that the people of Khaisor had been facing acute shortage of drinking water for a long time. Women had been forced to fetch water from far-away wells for their domestic use.

The problem has now been resolved by sinking a tube well, constructing a pump house, a 2,000-gallon surface tank, laying of 1,000 meters-long distribution pipeline and an internal electrification including a 50 KVA transformer.

On the people’s request, the political administration responded by prioritizing their demands and issued orders for the availability of drinking water supply facilities to the people of these villages.

The release added that the system will ensure continuous water supply to the community. During implementation of the project, the local community took active part in the construction work which resulted in timely and effective execution of the scheme.

The community members lauded the government and said that the provision of basic amenities of life to the remote areas will help ease difficulties of the population to a great extent. The political administration also appreciated the active participation of the community in the construction, monitoring of the project and assured that the remaining problems faced by the population will be addressed likewise.
