Vehicle overturns: 12 schoolteachers injured
The two schoolchildren and driver remained unhurt
HARIPUR:
At least twelve schoolteachers were injured, three of them critically, when a pickup carrying them to their institute skidded off the road and overturned in the remote, hilly area of Khanpur. Police said the vehicle was on its way to Dartiyan village from Khanpur with 12 female teachers and two schoolchildren on board. When the pickup reached the village, the driver lost control of the steering wheel and the vehicle overturned after hitting a heavy roadside stone. Of the injured, schoolteachers Sajida, Mrs Mazhar Shah and Naeema are in a critical condition. The two schoolchildren and driver remained unhurt. The injured were rushed to Khanpur Rural Health Centre where the absence of doctors and power outages enraged the attendants of the patients. They chanted slogans against the hospital administration and district health officer. The 12 people were finally taken to District Headquarters Hospital in Haripur. Apart from those in a critical condition, the injured were discharged after being given first aid.
