ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF) has expressed serious concerns over the looming deadline (September 30) by Qatar to finalise the LNG deal after which the supply arrangement would be at a stand-still. “The cancellation of the long-term deal would be a great blow to Pakistan as it will inflict losses of billions,” said PBIF President and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain. “Pakistan took 18 months in constructing the LNG terminal and it has not resolved issues in the last seven months including insistence of Qatar’s state-run company QatarGas on tripartite agreement between PSO, SSGC and SNGPL, Gas Sales Agreement between SNGPL and IPPs and proper payment mechanism in the form of standby letter of credit,” he said.
