According to a police official, initial investigation showed that the alleged militant was heading towards his target in the Miryan area of Bannu but his bid was thwarted as his explosives went off, killing him in the process.

Further, in the Buner district of Malakand Division, a police officer was killed while he was on duty in Gara Ghokand area, police officials said. The defunct Teheek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.

Earlier, in the wee hours of Friday, 29 people including an army captain were killed as militants attacked a heavily-guarded Pakistan Air Force base in Badhaber area on the outskirts of Peshawar, senior security officials said. Confirming the attack, ISPR had said 13 militants were killed ahead of a clearance operation in the area.
