Law enforcement agencies conducted a raid at Central Fire Brigade Station on Wednesday and detained at least two of its employees.
Sources in the fire brigade department told The Express Tribune that a heavy contingent of Rangers arrived at the office located near Civil hospital in Karachi. "They spent at least one-and-a-half hours and scrutinised the employee's records," said an official of the fire brigade department.
"After examining the records, they took the two employees away with them," said the source. The detained employees have been identified as Abdul Hafeez and Abdul Waheed, who was later released after the initial course of interrogation, while Abdul Hafeez was still in Rangers' custody.
This is not the first raid conducted by the law enforcement agencies on the fire brigade station during the course of the Karachi operation.
Several raids have been carried out at different fire brigade stations in the city thus far in the two years of the operation. Meanwhile, the officials of the police and Rangers were not available for comments when contacted.
