A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday dismissed a petition challenging the trial of suspects accused of participating in the Model Town violence, holding it not-maintainable.
Former Faisal Town SHO Amir Saleem told the bench that a JIT had declared the accused, including the chief minister, innocent.
The petitioner told the court that the first FIR of an incident had become infructuous on the filing of a second FIR. He said he was being tried despite that. Opposing his arguments, Assistant Advocate General Sahil Sattar said police had presented a challan of the first FIR at an anti-terrorism court.
Sattar said Saleem should have filed an acquittal application if he considered himself innocent.
He asked the court to dismiss the petition as being non-maintainable. The bench dismissed the petition following the conclusion of arguments.
