Environment Secretary Iqbal Muhammad Chohan said on Wednesday that five firms had submitted offers to prepare feasibility reports for the treatment of domestic and toxic industrial waste in Hadiara Drain before it was released into River Ravi.
The project will cost Rs21.320 million, he said. The provincial secretary said the feasibility report would carry information regarding the volume of waste being released in the drain and what technology would be best suited to treat it.
It will also contain details regarding the amount of land needed for the project, he said. The provincial secretary said the project would help curb the dumping of polluted water from the drain into River Ravi.
