LAHORE:

A consumer court ordered a car tracking company on Monday to pay Rs1.65 million damages to a customer for failing to trace his car.

Naeem said he had bought a tracker for his car from Satalliance Private Limited, owned by Mian Mohsin. He said on July 14, 2013, he was robbed of his car and that he had registered an FIR with Saddar police in Sargodha.

He said when he and the SHO asked the company to trace the car’s location, they were informed that the tracker had not been working for 20 to 25 days. Mohsin said on June 22, 2013, he had asked Naeem to tune up the tracker. The court observed that Mohsin had failed to provide evidence to prove this claim. It directed him to pay Naeem Rs1.6m to cover the car’s cost, Rs34,000 to cover the tracker’s cost and Rs25,000 in lieu of litigation cost.
