ISLAMABAD: The protests against increase in fee of private schools are spreading across the country with one such protest organised by parents of children from different private schools in the capital on Sunday. The parents demanded that education be made inexpensive and called for a legislation that could regulate fee and revive the Private Education Institutes Regulator Authority. Parents walked from National Press Club to the Super Market in F-6 as a sign of protest. Shazia Rashid, mother of a 7th grader at Headstart School, launched a social media campaign, “Sasti taleem sab ke liye” last week. The campaign has received significant response from major cities of country including Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi. The campaign aims to build the pressure on the government to take stern measures to rein in the private sector. A group of parents also met the federal education minister earlier this week who assured them of support.
