In video message, Rashid Godil shows signs of recovery after deadly attack

Godil says he believes that God was greater than those who were trying to kill him

Almost three weeks after Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MNA Rashid Godil was attacked by gunment and left fighting for his lfie, a video surfaced on social media on Wednesday showing a signs of recovery.

In the video posted by his fellow MQM parliamentarian, Syed Ali Raza Abidi, Godil thanked all the people who had prayed for his better health.

“I am thankful for all the Pakistanis who had prayed for my health,” Godil spoke in wheezing voice that was a little louder than a whisper, suggesting that he was yet to recover fully.

The MQM lawmaker, who still appeared weak and recovering from the bullet wounds he had suffered primarily in his neck and chest, said that he strongly believed that God was greater than those who were trying to kill him.

Godil said that he was still under treatment and that he was still facing some difficulty in speaking. However, he did thank the hospital staff and the doctors for saving his life and nursing him back to health.

Expressing the hope that he will make a full recovery soon, the MQM lawmaker added, “My mother’s prayers are with me, as are all of your prayers.”

He was left fighting for his life after he was critically wounded in an attack in Karachi’s Bahadurabad area on August 18. The MNA was admitted at the Liaquat National Hospital (LNH) with gunshot wounds to his jaw, neck and upper torso, critically damaging his lungs.
