Tribal elder gunned down in Bajaur Agency

This is the seventh target killing of a pro-government tribal elder in the agency in recent days

KHAR: A tribal elder was gunned down by unidentified men in the Chaharmang Nawagai area of Bajaur Agency on Monday.

An official of the political administration of Nawagai confirmed the target killing of Mullah Aman Mullah, a pro-government tribal elder in Chaharmang.

A search operation began after the killing; however, no one has been arrested yet.

This is the seventh target killing of a pro-government tribal elder in the agency in recent days.

Separately, a cache of explosives was seized by the political administration in Khar on Sunday.

The administration informed security agencies about the presence of an explosive-laden truck in agency headquarters Khar. When inspected, a truck parked in a bazaar had 94 bags of explosives with prima cords and other material used in the making of IEDs.

Administration officials arrested the truck driver, who was shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

Earlier on August 27, tribal leader Rahim Gul was killed when an IED, planted on the roadside, exploded.
