Pre-service training: Judicial officers told to uphold professional integrity

Supreme Court Justice Mushir Alam has advised judges to uphold professional integrity while dispensing justice.  

Speaking at the conclusion of a three-week pre-service training for civil judges and judicial magistrates from Balochistan at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) on Saturday, he said, “Whenever you sit in your court room, pause and think of what a precious privilege it is to be a judge — you have been assigned to administer justice. Be gentle but firm and provide expeditious justice to litigants.”

The judge added, “Always keep in mind that integrity is everything and the greatest happiness comes from giving and serving, so strive to serve your people, your province and this country”.



Earlier, Centre for Judicial Studies Australia Director and judicial educator Dr Livingston Armytage delivered an interactive lecture on the “role of a judge” saying, “An unjust society is always unstable, therefore, judges have a very important role to stabilise society.

Language is considered one of the greatest barriers in the accessibility of justice, young judicial officers have to play an active role to enhance accessibility to justice”.

A total of 35 trainees including women judges were awarded certificates at the conclusion ceremony.
