Four labourers were killed and 25 others were injured when the roof of a factory collapsed following a boiler explosion in Amratpura, Gakhar area, on Saturday.
A police spokesman said the workers were about to leave for lunch when the boiler exploded. He said the ceiling caved in and workers were trapped under its debris.
Rescue 1122 teams reached the scene and pulled out the injured. Four bodies were also recovered.
Some of the injured were taken to the DHQ Hospital and others to Mayo Hospital in Lahore.
Rescue 1122 said two of the deceased had been identified as Amanat Ali and Amjad. They said the others had not yet been identified.
The injured were identified as Amer, Hamza, Luqman, Ashiq Hussain, Shahid Hussain, Tanzeem, Munawar Hussain, Abdul Rasheed, Muhammad Afzal, Muhammad Fayyaz, Zubair Majeed, Yasar, Muhammad Rasheed and Mujahid. Gujranwala DCO Amer Jan supervised rescue efforts.
Gujranwala CPO Waqas Nazir visited the injured at the hospital and assured them that they would be taken care of.
Police arrested the factory owner, Altaf, his son and the cashier for interrogation.
