PKF president becomes first Pakistani to be elected in Asian Karatedo Federation

Muhammad Jahangir was selected among eight Executive Committee members

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF) president Muhammad Jahangir was elected as member of the Executive Committee (EC) of Asian Karatedo Federation (AKF) in an elective congress meeting held at Yokohama, Japan.

The main agenda of the congress was to elect the President, General Secretary and eight executive committee members for the next tenure.

It is for the first time in the history of AKF that a person from Pakistan has been elected as member of the EC.

Muhammad Jahangir, who is also President Pakistan Karate Federation while talking to APP on phone, thanked the members of the full house of AKF for reposing confidence in him.

"We are working with spirit to promote Karate in Pakistan in particular and the rest of the countries affiliated with World Karate Federation," said Jahangir.

He termed his election as the recognition of the efforts being put in by PKF for the promotion of Karate across the country. He assured that he would continue his hard work alongside with his team.

He added the performance of the Pakistani players at Asian level is also appreciable.

Jahangir said that his selection was actually an honour for all those associated with the game: the officials, players and fans in Pakistan.

Jahangir also lauded the support extended to them by the whole Olympic family led by its president Lt. Gen. Arif Hasan and officials of the Pakistan Sports Board which resulted in winning a key portfolio in Asia.

He disclosed that Kuang-Huei Chang (Chinese Taipei) was elected as President while Shigeo Kurihara (Japan) was appointed the General Secretary.

The remaining seven members of the Executive Committee are Alamjon Mullaev (Uzbekistan), Yu Kang Chau Kenny (Hong Kong), Kuong Im Che (Macau), Mohammad Ali (Malaysia), Vu Son Ha (Vietnam), Mouin Abdel Majeid (Jordan), Daeej Jassem Mohd Rasool Raisi (UAE).
