ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested three alleged extortionists within 24 hours after they demanded money from a citizen.

Aneesur Rehman, a resident of Sector I-8/3, had lodged a complaint with the Industrial Area police that a person was calling on his mobile demanding Rs5 million from him.

After registering the case, it was handed over to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad Police for further investigation.

A special team of the SIU headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Bashir Ahmed Noon and Sub-Inspector Muhammad Azam and others raided a hideout and arrested the three extortionists, identified as Sohail Ahmed, Shehzad and Imtiaz Shah. The alleged extortionists confessed to demanding the sum from the complainant.

Meanwhile, the SIU police arrested Sheeraz for allegedly selling porn movies at Sangam Market in Sector I-8/3.

The police also seized a huge quantity of porn movies from his shop.
