ISLAMABAD: A local court on Thursday indicted Muhammad Asif Nazar, popularly known as DJ Butt, for allegedly violating the ban on misuse of loudspeakers in the capital. The court had earlier issued arrest warrants for the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) DJ for violating section 144 of the criminal procedure code and the amplifier act. A case was also registered against Butt at the Secretariat Police Station in this regard. Butt’s music punctuated political rhetoric during PTI’s sit-in against alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections near parliament house last year. Assistant Commissioner Waqas Rasheed read the charges against Butt who denied them, moving the court to direct the prosecution to produce witnesses and evidence against him. The case has been adjourned till September 10.
