SUKKUR:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday said that funds meant for development works are being mercilessly looted and plundered in Sindh.

“There is massive corruption in Sindh,” he said talking to the media at the residence of Iftikhar Soomro in Shikarpur. Imran is on a two-day tour of Sindh to boost his party’s position for the upcoming local bodies’ elections.

Forecasting the biggest tsunami in Sindh, he said, people are desperately looking for a positive change. “PTI will succeed in denting Pakistan Peoples Party’s position throughout the province,” he said.

Blaming the PPP-led provincial government for colossal corruption, the PTI chief said that instead of serving the people and addressing their problems, the people in power have put their energies into minting money and sending it abroad through illegal means. He claimed that, billions of rupees were allocated for the development works in Sindh, but nobody knows where these funds have gone.

Imran said it was Allah Almighty who kept the people of Sindh safe from the flash flood, otherwise, no proper repairs were carried out at the protective embankment.

He said that PTI believes in a democratic system where people and not the elite take the lead, which could only be achieved through free and fair elections under honest and dedicated election commission.

Talking about meeting with the chief election commissioner (CEC), Imran said the poll-body chief has promised to rectify all the irregularities in the commission. The CEC has also promised not to repeat the mistakes committed during the general election of 2013, he added.

Supporting Karachi operation, the PTI chief invited Rangers to conduct such operation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to clean the province from criminals and corrupt people.

Later, Imran went on Kandhkot, where he addressed a rally in Buxapur town. After that he left for Ghotki, where he will stay overnight at the residence of PTI Sindh chapter President Nadir Akmal Leghari. In the morning he is scheduled to meet former PPP MNA Khalid Khan Lund and Ghulam Abbas Papoo Chachar, who are likely to join PTI.
