QUETTA: Unidentified men on Thursday evening fired two rockets near Gwadar Airport. The rockets landed near a checkpost but did not cause any damage

Station House officer (SHO) Gwadar Chakar Baloch said that at least two rockets had been fired from an unknown location, which landed near an FC check post at the Gwadar Airport.

No loss of life was reported as a result of the rocket attack.

“After two blasts, FC fired blanks into the air so that militants feel their presence,” another Gwadar police official Faiz Ahmed said.

“The police and security forces have started a search operation in the area,” Ahmed added.

No group had claimed the responsibility of the rocket attack till the filing of this report.

A case has been registered against the unknown persons and investigations are underway.

Dispelling rumors that the airport had been attacked, Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said that the facility was was safe and no firing incident took place at the airport itself.

Earlier on August 30, gunmen armed with automatic weapons had attacked Jiwani airport near Balochistan’s Gwadar district, killing two, officials said.

Up to a dozen attackers torched navigation equipment at Jiwani airport in Gwadar district before entering the building, a spokesperson for Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had said.

“The attackers entered the building and killed a superintendent and injured a supervisor critically,” spokesperson Pervez George told AFP.

Arun | 9 years ago | Reply @Point: RAW did this too?? If RAW has control over so much of your country, what were your security agencies doing? It is better to hold talks with RAW instead.
