PESHAWAR: Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai directed project directors of all programmes running under the health department to ensure timely payment of salaries to employees and resolve all their grievances.

Tarakai issued these instructions while chairing a meeting on Thursday. The moot was attended by project directors running various programmes – including and malaria control projects.

He warned that the project director concerned would be held responsible if employees of any programme took to the streets due to the non-payment of their salaries. He added the official’s salary would be withheld and firm action taken against him or her.

During the meeting, various matters related to these projects were discussed and a number of important decisions taken. All directors were ordered to present detailed reports about vehicles of their respective programmes within the next three days. They were also told to hand over vehicles and other assets of closed projects to the health department. Tarakai asked for detailed one-year reports on the performance and achievements of the respective projects.

Officials decided to hold monthly review meetings of all the projects, while overall performance will also be evaluated by a third party.

Tarakai asked project directors to ensure utmost transparency in financial matters. The meeting decided all recruitments, except those for Class-IV employees, will be made through NTS for
such projects.
