BAHAWALPUR:

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is in a state of panic after losing the NA-154seat, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf central organiser Jahangir Khan Tareen said on Tuesday. He announced that he would contest the by-poll. “This time, the PML-N will face a resounding defeat.”

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Tareen said the PML-N had lost their third wicket when the election tribunal in Multan declared that the election in the constituency had been rigged.

He said that after coming to power, he would work hard to improve the police’s performance in Lodhran.

“The feudal lords have done nothing for the people of Lodhran. The people will vote for the PTI in the October 11 by-polls,” he said.

Requesting anonymity, PTI officials in the region said that several important politicians affiliated with the PML-N had recently met Tareen.

They said an announcement about them joining the PTI will be made on Wednesday (today). Among these politicians are some former nazims, deputy nazims, councillors and active political party workers, they said.

The PML-N is yet to announce its candidate for the by-poll.

A former candidate, Syed Rafiuddin Shah, is said to be gearing up for a ticket from the PML-N, however, he lacks support from the Shaheed Kanju group, they said.
