The 29-year-old man was obsessed with a female wrestler to such an extent that a court order had to been obtained against him.
According to Orange County Sheriff, Jerry Demings, the man suffered life threatening injuries after being shot by deputies, adding that at the time of incident the female wrestler was not at the WWE facility, CNN reported.
Sheriff Demings refused to name the injured; however, nydailynews identified him as Armando Montalvo while the female wrestler was identified as AJ Lee.
After receiving a call from a manager at the WWE facility that Montalvo had entered the center and was creating “a commotion”, two officers reached the spot. The officers were informed by the staff that he was holding a knife like weapon.
Seeing the officers, the man charged towards them. The Sheriff said the officer "was running backward trying to create distance between himself and the subject, and ultimately the subject closed within just a few feet of him. And he fired the shot."
Confirming the incident, WWE wrestler and Executive Vice President of the Paul Levesque, better known as ‘Triple H’ said a “deranged individual with no WWE affiliation” was involved in an incident with an Orange County Sherriff’s deputy.
'Triple H' also tweeted that the organisation had a court order prohibiting him from being on WWE property.
