LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday dismissed as non-maintainable a petition by an LHC employee, Tanzeelur Rehman, challenging the Registrar Office’s objection to his bail application in a child abuse scandal in Kasur. Counsel for Rehman said the Registrar’s Office had no powers to reject the petition. He said Rehman’s brother had already died in police custody and that he feared that his client would meet the same fate. The lawyer requested the court to release Rehman. The court, however, dismissed the petition. Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik has suspended Rehman for his alleged involvement in the scandal.
