LAHORE:

An anti-terrorism court on Saturday adjourned hearing of the Zain murder case till September 2. The court directed officials to send video footage of the incident for forensic examination.

Mustafa Kanju, son of former state minister Siddique Kanju, and his security guards are being tried for killing Zain and injuring another person.

At a previous hearing, complainant Muhammad Sohail Afzal, an uncle of the deceased, had told the court that he did not recognise the accused.

The complaint had said that Kanju was travelling in his car (LWK-77) on April 1. When he reached Street 4 in Cavalry Ground, the vehicle collided with another car. After exchanging harsh words with the driver, he fired several shots with a rifle. Zain was killed and another passerby injured.

iKnow | 9 years ago | Reply Is it too difficult to know how our rich and powerful threaten and coerce the family members of the victim from recognizing the murderer in court? The crime-countryland is what it is! The court must get the video and must know the tactic at play. I'm surprised the case got this far. The uncle must be heart broken from the news but later feared for his family members' life after judgement, which Punjab Police can't provide safety to.
