The prime minister’s adviser of national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz once again clarified on Monday that there could be no talks with India without Kashmir on the agenda.

Days after the scheduled NSA-level talks between the two countries collapsed, Aziz categorically rejected the perception that Pakistan’s armed forces were not willing to open dialogue between the two arch-rivals.

“There is no difference between the Pakistan Army and the political leadership. As far as Kashmir is concerned not only the political leadership, the whole nation is united that we cannot talk to India without Kashmir,” said Aziz while exclusively talking to CNN-IBN

The meeting was agreed upon by the prime ministers of the two countries in their meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in the Russian city of Ufa last month.

When asked if he would propose a meeting between NSA advisers of the two countries at the UN General Assembly session in New York, he said, “We are not going to propose that, but if India proposes then we’ll see.”

Aziz said he will exchange the dossiers of Indian spy agency RAW’s involvement with Pakistan, even if he doesn’t get a chance for a meeting with Ajit Dowal, the Indian national security adviser.

Despite the talks being called off, the NSA adviser said the meeting between the DGMOs and the DG BSF and Pakistan Rangers will go ahead.

“The BSF meeting is confirmed for September 6, and they have already had a preliminary meeting to discuss the agenda,” he said. “DGMO talks happen every week anyway and they can agree among themselves whenever they want to meet.”

No evidence shared with Pakistan

Meanwhile, Aziz denied Pakistan had been provided any evidence on the presence of Dawood Ibrahim in the country, or the country’s involvement in Gurdaspur attacks.

What co-operation? I mean they, let them provide. On Gurdaspur nothing has been provided. If they provide – we will take action,” he said. “India is always using the media to target and point fingers at Pakistan without providing anything. In my two years, I have not seen any evidence being provided on these two issues.”

Last month, gunmen dressed in military fatigues killed at least 10 people, including three civilians, in India’s Punjab state before being shot dead in a 12-hour-long gunfight with security forces in a small-town police station near the border with Pakistan.

Then there will be no talks at all. Pakistan will have to beg India for talks. Now that Pakistan’s super duper power China’s economy is tanking slowly, I just wonder who will they lean on next. Recommend

And India has been saying – No talks on Kashmir till action on Terror takes place.

As I had posted earlier – Talks really not an option between Pakistan & India right now. Cold-war & covert war of attrition will continue. Each country will do their ‘worst’ to hurt the other, till one of them gets tired of it. My hunch is Pakistan has always got tired first, having less ‘energy’ & ‘heft’.Recommend

If Azad Kashmir is considered to be an internal matter of Pakistan, why would Pakistan want to interfere in the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir which is an internal matter for India? The only probably reason is for the Pakistan Miltary establishment to retain some relevance within the country.Recommend

Mr Sartaz said that “There is no difference between the Pakistan Army and the political leadership”. These from him says it all that who is pulling the strings and why Pakistan deviated from issues decided in Ufa. Whole world knows that in Pakistan political leader ship has no authority over Army and ISI, both will never allow peace with India as their very existence is based on anti-Indian thinking.Recommend

    @all Indian trolls

Azad Kashmir doesn’t have 700,000 troops raping or killing freedom fighters. Azad Kashmir us not observing black days on independence day of India. Jammu and Kashmir people want referendum and the right to choose. Let’s not become ostrich and play dumb.

Aa for Pakistan, we (including me as a Hindu) does not really care about your so called talks.

We know your intentions and your media propaganda machine.

Kashmiris don’t call themselves Indian and they will spread the fire of freedom to every part of India. Punjab already wants a referendum in 2020.

For a change, great move by Pakistan foreign office.
India needs to be told that this isn’t another Amitabh movie where everyone can just kiss, make up, do some photo ops and go home living happy ever after. This is the real world. There are accountabilities for Kashmir.
Well boys, let have plebiscite on both sides of Kashmir. We’re agreeable. This is what UN resolutions say. We never said that we won’t have it. We don’t have 700,000 army stationed on our side of the LOC.
And lastly, how our politicians and military interact is our internal matter. None of India’s business. Pakistanis have always had very clear / known and open view on Kashmir. It needs to be solved according to affirmed UN resolutions. So please stop saying ‘oh, must be the military throwing in the spanner’, the spanner has always been Indian intransigence to recognize the core dispute – Kashmir. Good wake up call. Recommend

Thank you very much. Please don’t disturb us with ‘we want to talk but India is not talking’ in the future…
Because we Indians have other important things to do like nation building. Mr. Modi will keep himself busy finding more business to India. Modi being from the business oriented Gujarat knows very well that ‘time is money’. He would rather utilize his time earning India business and Good will in other countries than keep quarreling with Pakistan which only has one point agenda ‘Kashmir banega Pakistan’…

And yeah Pakistan always has the right to keep yelling ‘Hindu India is persecuting poor Muslims in Kashmir’ and no one in the world will listen to it. OBL in abbotabad, mulla omar, haqqani network, hafiz saeed, LeT, TTP, Balochistan, Shia-Sunni, AQ Khan and his ‘export company’, Axact, Ahmadis and other dwindling minorities etc etc….. Modi knows this all too well…Recommend

…… we cannot talk to India without Kashmir.
Indians don’t walk to talk on Kashmir because, after 68 years, both countries’ stands have become well known. Reiterating them is a waste of time. So unless Pakistan has a new proposal on Kashmir, what are we going to talk about? Even if there was a new proposal, are we going to discuss it at NSAs’ level?
It is frustrating to see Pakistan use up every opportunity in making empty noises on Kashmir. It will be long journey finding a solution to the Kashmir issue and the first few steps, such as the NSAs meetings, may appear insignificant or irrelevant. Nevertheless, without taking those first steps, we aren’t going to get anywhere.Recommend

This is the correct answer, this is how we should deal with India, no wonder we need to be friends with India but Indian govt must look up to itself. They have never provided any proof to Pakistan and blame Pak for everything… They don’t ad Kashmiris, why don’t they… they are the world’s biggest democracy which means “govt by the people for the people from the people” right then why shouldn’t Kashmiris have that right???Recommend
