KARACHI:

A series of light to moderate intensity rainfall with thunderstorms is likely to take place in Karachi and other parts of Sindh from July 17 to July 21 due to a new monsoon system.

According to Chief Meteorologist, it is premature to predict whether the system will intensify or lead to urban flooding in low-lying areas without knowing the amount of moisture it will gather from the sea.

The system may also cause rainfall in rural districts, including Sanghar, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas, and Badin, with Tharparkar and Mithi potentially experiencing heavy downpours accompanied by thunderstorms.

Reportedly, moist air is entering the country and is expected to intensify from July 13. As a result, a fresh western wave is likely to enter the country by the evening of July 13.

Under these weather conditions, several areas in Sindh, including Sanghar, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Hyderabad, are expected to experience thunderstorms and rainfall with occasional gaps between July 15-17.
