KARACHI: Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) scored wins to hold onto their spots in the Pakistan Premier League (PPL).

Muhammad Younus guided KPT to a 1-0 win against champions Wapda when he struck the match-winning goal in the 12th minute of the match.

The winning team stands sixth in the table with 50 points, but are now aiming to win their last match against Pakistan Army to move up to third.

Meanwhile, HBL won 2-0 against Pakistan Elektron Limited (Pel) as Zakir Lashari and Muhammad Ibrahim scored late goals in the 88th and 90th minutes of the match.

HBL ended their run on 13th place with 22 points. Pel holds 10th place in the league with 38 points and will be pinning their hopes for seventh place when they take on National bank of Pakistan (NBP) in their next Premier League match.

In other matches of the day, NBP were involved in a goalless draw against Pakistan Air Force.

Sui Southern Gas Corporation (SSGC) were awarded a walkover against Pakistan Navy as the latter’s involvement in the National Games meant they were unable to take the field for their PPL match.

SSGC finish 14th in the league with 20 points.
