India sabotaged peace talks owing to their ‘fanatic approach’: Asif

Defence minister says Modi-led government's negative attitude would disrupt peace in the region

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on Sunday India sabotaged talks scheduled between the national security advisers of the nuclear-armed neighbours owing to their ‘fanatic approach’.

"Pakistan was serious for holding the talks which were the best way for resolving problems but the pre-conditions put by India were not acceptable to us," the defence minister said, reported Radio Pakistan.

Asif said the Modi-led government's negative attitude would disrupt peace in the region.

Pakistan’s armed forces were capable of defending frontiers and sovereignty of the country, the defence minister said, adding Pakistan Army was successfully eliminating terrorists from the region.

He said Indian forces were constantly violating the Line of Control and Working Boundary to pre-occupy the army.

( friends or foes) Most of you people , TV channels, leaders , newspapers, Text Books routinely use the word 'ENEMY' for India, they why do you expect openness, IPL, Films, people -people contacts, trade or friendship or any leverage from them, then why talk also..?

All claims of Indian Gov. especially this communal Gov. lead by mobster modi against Pakistan is false and solely to garner vote from radicalized Hindu majority. However your claims of India bothers least about Pakistan doesn't reflects right from within India (From your comments I suspect your an NRI and not in touch with your country for long), look at your politicians, media, films, sports!!! it seems everything is circulating around about/against/favor of Pakistan!!!! BruteForce | 9 years ago | Reply India is already peaceful. I don't understand why Pakistan is saying this region is not peaceful. It is Af-Pak which is burning. Pakistan in fact has hopped from one crisis to the next. India is peaceful, if talks will lead to peace in Pakistan, then its Pakistan's loss that the talks didn't happen. India is growing at 7% per annum, Pakistan barely growing. Pakistan by sticking to its stand is harming itself. India is least affected by it.

But its alright, nothing good was ever expected from India to start with. OR 5.8 billion people of the world? If your answer is the former, then God help you and your failing state. If your answer is the latter, then better luck next time, perhaps in the next 100000 years.

Let us not play the silly game of diverting awam's attention from the core needs. Is anyone doing hunger strike in Pakistan and Kashmir for making sure these talks will happen in future. From what it looks, the separatists got cheap publicity and they lost. World had other problems to solve and no time to deal with perpetually whining Pakistani leaders.

We are neither honest to ourselves nor to the world around us. We too have played a no lessor role in sabotaging the talks. Our approach should have been sincere and balanced if we wished Hurriyat to be there then we should have also invited the other Kashmiri leaders too who have an equal even bigger stake in a peaceful and just resolution of this long lingering problem. The truth of the matter is your bosses the Khakis do not want Peace at any cost because Peace between two neighbors they are afraid would make them irrelevant and insignificant so they forced you to throw in this Hurriyat Spanner in the works which you most willingly did. It is high time we start to act in a mature and responsible manner and have the moral courage to speak the truth because we have been lying and hoodwinking to our own people for too long.
