
The counter-terrorism department has arrested a man for kidnapping a six-year-old boy for ransom.
According to a handout issued by the department on Thursday, Nawaz, a resident of Wazir Bagh in Yakatoot, had abducted Haris in July. “The kidnapper had demanded Rs5 million in ransom from the boy’s family,” read the statement. “Haris died while kidnappers were taking him to Rashid Garhi area.”
The handout added Nawaz has been shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation. Over the past few months, the department has put a large number of people behind bars for their involvement in kidnapping cases.
On August 1, CTD Hazara arrested three men for their alleged involvement in a kidnapping for ransom case. According to details, Asif, Ishfaq and Muhammad Nawaz were arrested from Parhana Road in Mansehra.
