Councillor tortured: Quetta mayor wants SHO suspended

The mayor said he would block the entire city as protest if IG Balochistan failed to suspend the SHO

QUETTA: The Mayor of Quetta Dr Kaleemullah Khan and Deputy Mayor Mohammad Younas Baloch have demanded the police high-ups to suspend the SHO of Kharotabad police station for torturing a councillor. The mayor while addressing a press conference said he would block the entire city as protest if IG Balochistan failed to suspend the SHO. “Few days back a dead body was found dumped in Kharotabad area and SHO was informed about it, but the body was shifted to hospital after two days,” Dr Kaleemullah told reporters. The mayor said that on raising the issue with SHO, the Councillor of Union Council 53 Khalid Khan was tortured and locked up by the police. However, SHO Mohmmad Mushtaq has said he has impounded a non-customs paid vehicle of a councillor who belongs to the political party of the mayor of Quetta. “They are pressuring me to free the illegal non customs paid vehicle,” he told The Express Tribune.
