KHYBER:

Police restored order after clashes broke out between workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Awami National Party (ANP) in Bara Bazar, Khyber district, on Thursday.

The confrontation occurred when some PTI supporters allegedly entered an ANP public rally in the area.

PTI workers began chanting slogans against the ANP during the gathering, triggering a heated exchange between supporters of the two parties. The verbal dispute later escalated into a physical altercation.

The situation intensified further when aerial firing was reported during the sloganeering, causing panic among those present.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a heavy police contingent reached the scene and took action to bring the situation under control. Authorities dispersed participants of the rally, after which law and order were restored in the area.

Police officials said an investigation is underway and legal action will be taken against those found involved. Security in the area has been heightened to prevent any further untoward incidents.
