Public Health: No polio case in Punjab this year

The high commissioner appreciated the government’s efforts against polio

LAHORE: Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Khwaja Salman Rafique said on Wednesday no polio case had been reported in the province in 2015.  “The government is committed to completely eradicating the virus from the province,” Rafique said during Canadian High Commissioner Heather Cruden’s visit to Emergency Operation Centre at the Health Services Directorate General. Health Secretary Jawwad Rafique Malik, Health Services Director General Zahid Pervaiz, Extended Programme on Immunisation Director Munir Ahmed and UNICEF Pakistan chief Angela Kearney were also present. The high commissioner appreciated the government’s efforts against polio.
