Ayyan Ali Case: Customs not to challenge bail in SC
A legal adviser of Pakistan Customs had recommended challenging the LHC decision in the Supreme Court
RAWALPINDI:
Pakistan Customs have decided not to challenge the bail granted to money-laundering suspect Ayyan Ali by the Lahore High Court (LHC), for now. The model was arrested by the Customs officials from Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad on March 14, 2015 after $506,800 were recovered from her luggage. LHC accepted the model’s bail application on July 14, 2015. A legal adviser of Pakistan Customs had recommended challenging the LHC decision in the Supreme Court. The Customs collector, however, has rejected the proposal. Customs officials are likely to present a charge-sheet against the suspect at the next hearing, scheduled for August 21. Meanwhile, another money-laundering suspect Ejaz Baig has also been released from the Adiala Jail after his bail plea was accepted by a court.
