A schoolteacher and his pupils are preparing a 5,000-feet-long and 32-feet-wide national flag to celebrate Independence Day in Faisalabad.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Zohaib Hussain Shah said he was a resident of a poor neighbourhood in Islamnagar.
“I always wanted to celebrate Independence Day in a unique way,” he said. “I want my Independence Day celebrations to be remembered.”
He said he had gathered some friends and students who had agreed to help him prepare a large flag which would be hoisted on Independence Day. He said he started working on the project three months ago.
“I arranged 584 thaans and 12 cones of thread to prepare the flag,” he said. He said he would organise a rally ahead of the flag raising ceremony.
“Participants will walk from Iqbal Stadium and carry the flag to Zila Council Chowk,” he said.
