KARACHI: Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmaker Nabil Gabol approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday seeking Rangers' security from the government against alleged death threats issued to him by MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

Gabol, who was once associated with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), said the provincial government had also withdrawn police protection provided to him earlier.

He further warned that if anything happened to him, the MQM and Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah should be held responsible.

Although he fulfilled half of the necessary procedure of filing the petition, he left after talking to media.

During the 2013 general elections, the MQM awarded its most precious seat in the National Assembly, NA-246, to Gabol. However, differences had arisen between Gabol and the MQM leadership, leading to his resignation as member of the National Assembly as well as from the party.

He left the PPP after two decades in March 2013, claiming he was being side-lined and that the PPP was no more a party of Benazir Bhutto and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

Sparrow | 9 years ago | Reply Nabil Gabol has a habit of flying with the wind to enjoy the life with no return for the persons who elect him. The time does not remains the same. Leaving one party and joining another requires some efforts to prove the ability & worth. With the changes in the political arena and leaving the current party with claims having sheer differences with the party leadership is no justifiable excuse. Now Seeking Rangers security and accusing two different party leaders for threat of life seems to be his old worn out tactic.
