PESHAWAR:

A police constable was gunned down in Khan Mast Colony within the jurisdiction of Yakatoot police station on Monday morning.

According to police, Muhammad Saeed was shot dead outside his residence by unidentified assailants. A 9mm pistol was used in the assault.

“Muhammad Saeed had not been on active service since 2000,” SSP Operations Dr Mian Saeed said. “Furthermore, he had been ill for the past two years and had mostly spent his time at home. On Monday morning, he had gone to a shop near his house to buy milk and was killed by unidentified men. He received five bullets.”

The SSP speculated the incident might have been triggered by an old enmity. “However, we do not know this for certain as the family of the victim has not nominated anyone in the FIR,” he said.
