KARACHI: Justice (retd) Asad Munir assumed charge of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) headquarters in Lahore on Monday as the caretaker of the national footballing body in order to resolve the ongoing tussle between two rival factions.

Munir visited the PFF Football House on Monday in accordance with the Lahore High Court’s order issued on July 23, which said that the elections held by Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat in Changla Gali on June 30 were declared null-and-void.

Munir’s duties included looking after the day-to-day matters of the federation as well as checking the PFF accounts and auditing them.

“I just went to the PFF headquarters and I’ll be checking out the PFF constitution and the current situation for a couple of days,” Munir told The Express Tribune. “I don’t know which faction is right and which one is wrong. I’ll try to meet the officials from both sides.”
