The paramilitary force’s operation is not directed against any particular political party, Mukhtar said at the Rangers Headquarters on Super Highway, where he addressed a passing-out parade of the paramilitary force and congratulated the 1,030 graduating soldiers.
“The Karachi operation is entirely apolitical and indiscriminate. The operation is free from any compromise or pressure.”
The Corps commander said terrorists and their facilitators and financiers were the target of the Karachi operation. “We shall spare no effort to achieve these targets.”
He said the law and order situation in the port city had improved because of the efforts of the Rangers and other law enforcement agencies (LEAs).
“The sacrifices rendered by the citizens of Karachi and by the personnel of the country’s security institutions would not be allowed to go to waste.”
Lt Gen Mukhtar said the Pakistan Rangers was a laudable institution that not only protected the country’s borders but was also playing the role of a vanguard in the operation against terrorists taking refuge in the metropolitan city. “The crackdown will continue until terrorism is completely eradicated.”
He said the massive support from the public had made the war on terrorism successful, adding that it was the responsibility of every citizen to keep any eye on the activities taking place in their surroundings.
“A peaceful Karachi is a symbol of strengthened Pakistan. The LEAs will not leave any stone unturned to achieve their targets. The city’s journey towards peace has begun and the public’s faith in the LEAs has been restored.”
The Corps commander was accompanied by Rangers Director General Maj Gen Bilal Akbar, who had earlier welcomed him at the ceremony.
