KARACHI:

The Fertilizer Manufacturers of Pakistan Advisory Council (FMPAC) has stated that every urea bag produced by manufacturers in Pakistan “clearly mentions the price” to ensure transparency and avoid market manipulation.

However, it added that printing the price on diammonium phosphate (DAP) and phosphatic fertiliser bags “is not feasible due to fluctuating international prices, value of the Pakistani currency and transportation/freight charges for more than 50 geographical zones in the country. The FMPAC added that manufacturers and importers proposed the government to consider reduction in the GST on DAP and phosphatic fertiliser to give advantage to farmers. A comprehensive proposal has already been presented to the government for optimising the benefits to the farmers.
