The provincial government has spent over Rs240 million on the renovation of government-owned bungalows since June 2013. This was said by the communication and works department in response to a question raised in the K-P Assembly.
Furthermore, the department quoted official reports as saying Rs172.02 million were spent on the renovation of 78 official residences in the fiscal year 2013-14. Meanwhile, Rs75.064 million were spent on 80 official bungalows in fiscal year 2014-15.
It added a bungalow situated near Governor House received considerable attention in 2013-14 as Rs26.019 million was spent on it. On the other hand, in fiscal year 2014-15, Rs2.037 million was used for the renovation of an official residence situated in Hayatabad.
The provincial government owns many residences for its employees. In Peshawar, the houses are situated in Dabgari Garden, Fort Road, Jail Road and Old Jamrud Road Hayatabad, University Town, Civil Quarters, Park Lane and Hashtnagri. Official residences and accommodations are also present in other major cities and towns. Officials at the state department told The Express Tribune over 10,000 applications requesting official accommodations in main cities of the province remain pending.
