SRINAGAR: A digital version of the holy Quran will now be available to the people of Srinagar irrespective of their religion, as a mobile van was launched to promote the peaceful message of the Quran.

As part of the new service, the van will move around the different parts of Srinagar offering services to anyone who may be interested in gaining knowledge about Islam.

Noted Islamic scholar and General Secretary of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, officially launched the mobile van which has Muslim scholars on-board to interact with people.

Scholars will interact with locals and tourists from all faiths to discuss any queries they may have about Islam or the Quran.

One of the facilities on the mobile van includes downloading the Quran in many different languages.

The mobile service is aimed at removing misconceptions about Islam through digital copies of the Quran on mediums such as CDs, DVDs, pen drives, hard drives and mobiles.

In a ceremony to launch the service, Sartaj Ahmad of Satya Sandesh Foundation (SSF) said "It is incumbent upon every Muslim to reach out to every citizen with the message of Allah as the holy book was not meant exclusively for Muslims alone."
