Anti-dengue campaign: EPA seals three junkyards

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Environment Protection Agency (EPA) on Wednesday sealed three junkyards for not making appropriate arrangements to prevent dengue larva breeding. As part of the ongoing anti-dengue drive, the EPA inspected 32 tyre shops, four under-construction sites, six warehouses and 16 junkyards. During inspection, the squads found 41 places satisfactory and removed 17 dengue breeding points. EPA District Officer Mian Muhammad Nawaz said he is inspecting dengue breeding points in the city and monitoring the whole process through the Punjab Government Dengue Online Android System.  He said the squads are visiting various areas and updating images on dengue progress and other details on the system. He said the government is utilising all resources to check the spread of the dengue virus. Besides government departments, the general public also has to come forward as without their participation, the government cannot eliminate dengue, he shared.
