QUETTA: After similar resolutions being moved in the Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assemblies in the past two days, members of the ruling coalition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and National Party (NP) on Wednesday submitted a resolution in the Balochistan Assembly’s Secretariat condemning the anti-state speech of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain.

“Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, along with other MPAs have submitted the resolution,” a senior assembly official, who requested not to be named, told The Express Tribune.

“The resolution condemns the speech of Altaf Hussain and seeks legal action against him,” the official claimed. “It also demands the government to approach British government to cancel citizenship of the MQM supremo and request his extradition (to Pakistan).”

Earlier in June, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti had demanded that the MQM should be labelled a terrorist organisation and banned over its alleged involvement in anti-state activities. “MQM should be declared a terrorist organisation after the BBC’s report exposed its nexus with RAW,” the minister had said, while addressing the media.

The minister had also accused India’s premier spy agency, RAW, of creating unrest in Balochistan. “India’s RAW is behind terrorist activities in Balochistan and Karachi,” he had added. “There have been evidences of RAW’s involvement in terrorist activities in the country.”

In May, a condemnation resolution against Altaf had been passed in the Balochistan Assembly. The resolution had been tabled by the home minister and was supported by both government and political parties.

The MQM party head is being severely criticised all over the country over his anti-Pakistan speeches and urging his party workers to appeal to the UN and the Nato to send troops to Karachi to determine facts behind the killings of muhajirs.
