FAISALABAD: Gas officials in Faisalabad, ignoring the prime minister’s directives, issued notices to factories on Wednesday for the suspension of gas supplies for four days a week.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had earlier assured industrialists that he would personally lead protests if the disruption in gas supply to them was not addressed.

Prime Minister Gilani, taking notice Sharif's warning, had directed authorities to ensure the supply of natural gas to Punjab’s industry especially the textile sector for five days a week.

In spite of the directives issued on Monday, Faisalabad’s gas officials have issued notices to the industries in the Faisalabad region that gas supplies will remain suspended from 24th to 27th December.
