Knowledge-based economy is the only way to cope with challenges posed by the rapidly changing global scenario as well as help overcome various internal issues, said Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Ijaz A Mumtaz.
While talking to LCCI members, he said that lack of knowledge and research was one of the biggest reasons of the country’s economic ills.
He urged the government to conduct market research to find out new destinations for Pakistani products.
He said Pakistani missions abroad should be duty bound to introduce the country’s products to foreign buyers and also ensure dissemination of trade related information. “It is time to diversify our businesses and add new products to attract maximum foreign buyers for our products.”He stressed on the government to introduce ‘knowledge and research’ culture in all sectors of the economy including energy. “Only public-private partnership can make a breakthrough in the field of ‘Knowledge & Research’ he maintained.
