KARACHI:

Pakistan swimmers failed to make a mark at the 16th FINA World Championships as none of them succeeded in qualifying for the next round of their respective categories in Kazan.

Muhammad Saad finished 59th out of 80 swimmers in the men’s 50-metre butterfly event, thereby failing to progress to the next round in which only the top 15 swimmers were allowed to compete. Saad will now participate in the men’s 50m freestyle on Friday.

Haris Bandey finished 67th out of 68 swimmers in the 400m freestyle and will now take part in the men’s 200m individual medley on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, female swimmer Anum Bandey will participate in the women’s 100m and 200m breaststrokes on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, while Lianna Swan will compete in the women’s 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke on Saturday.
